The Marica De Vincenzi Foundation Onlus is inviting application for a 1-year fellowship, US $37,500 plus economy air fare, for Italian students to pursue post-doctoral study preferably in the US or in another country (Italy excluded), beginning in Fall 2011. The fellowship is for study and research in the area of grammatically-oriented psycholinguistics at an institution of the applicant's choice. Applications should be received by February 20, 2011 and it is expected that a decision will be announced by April 2, 2011.
Applications should be submitted electronically, in English, and should include:
- CV, including evidence of competence in spoken English
- A four-page statement of purpose describing the proposed plan of study/research
- Papers, reports, Ph.D dissertation written in English or Italian by the candidate. If the dissertation was written in Italian, the candidate should provide a 12 page summary written in English.

Candidates should arrange for three referees to submit confidential letters of
reference via email:
borsedistudio@fondazionedevincenzi.org.
Please write in the subject: F2011
In case the candidate does not hold the PhD at the deadline of submission of
the application, the faculty advisor should send a statement of assurance that
the PhD will be completed by July 31st, 2011.
In the evaluation of applications, the scholarly strength of the candidate, as well as the feasibility of the proposed research and its impact upon the applicant's career and potential for future impact on psycholinguistics in Italy, will be considered.
Applicants who plan to remain in their current institution should provide justification, and in cases of projects that require more than one year it is helpful to provide information on possible sources of funding beyond the initial year.
The amount of the fellowship will be deposited on a bank account the candidate will indicate as follows: US $14,000 at departure, US $12,500 in March and the remaining US $11,000 in October upon receiving a report of the activities carried out. This report will be approved and signed by the sponsor of the host Institution and sent to the Fondazione. Should the fellowship holder decide to stop working on the project before the agreed period, or to take up a paid position, the amount of the award paid will be reduced proportionally (about US $3.100 per month).
In due time the winner of the fellowship must send info about IBAN and bank account, about having obtained a valid visa (if required) for the intended period, and arrival and departure dates and locations.
The Fondazione expects the fellowship holder to acknowledge the Fondazione Marica De Vincenzi onlus in presentations at conferences during the year they are financially supported by the Fondazione, as well as in papers stemming from the research activity carried out in this period. Also, the fellows' scientific involvement in the Fondazione's research and training will be greatly appreciated.
Applications should be submitted to:
borsedistudio@fondazionedevincenzi.org
Receipt of all submitted material will be acknowledged by email.
